⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Sexy and serious

Trust in Me (All I Want, #4)

Serious and a little sexy, this romance features a woman who has learned that she can’t trust her heart. It’s a story of two opposites coming together and making each other better in the process. The writing is solid (though a little repetitive), and while the overall tone is serious with some sweetness, there’s definitely still a sexy side to the story.

Trust in Me follows Stella, a woman who has been cheated on in every relationship she’s ever had. Having been burned so many times, she can no longer trust her judgment when it comes to relationships, and she begins to believe that she might need to start looking for a different type of guy. When she starts working with Sawyer, a college professor from her circle of friends, she sees a different side of the shy, quiet guy she’s known for years. He seems like the perfect guy for her to try dating… but he’s made it clear in the past that her bubbly, outgoing personality is too much for him. But as they spend time together, it becomes more and more difficult to remember why taking a chance on Sawyer is a bad idea.

There’s a lot to like about the book – the characters are complex and interesting, the relationship has depth, and the storyline is a little different than what you’d normally find in a romance novel. I really enjoyed Sawyer – he’s not the typical alpha male you read about; he’s more serious and reserved, a little shy but still confident when he needs to be. I would’ve loved to have heard his side of things – 99% of the book is told from Stella’s perspective, so the reader really doesn’t know where Sawyer’s head is at. For that reason, I didn’t feel like I got to know him as well as I would’ve hoped, and Stella’s side of things sort of took over the story. Her insecurities came up time and again, ultimately getting a little repetitive and overtaking the story. That’s really the only place where this book stumbled for me. It’s a more serious, understated romance and I would definitely check out more of the author’s work in the future. I received a free copy via Hidden Gems and am voluntarily leaving a review of this emotional romance.
