⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Sexy and fun

Playful and sexy, this rom com has touches of angst but stays mostly light. I love Teagan Hunter’s writing style with its banter and complex characters, so this was a fun read. Though the premise isn’t one I would normally seek out – nanny and single dad having sex without feelings – I found it a lot easier to enjoy than I initially anticipated. It easily stands on its own but ties into the series with appearances from previous couples.

The story follows Dory, a college student who desperately needs to land the nanny position she’s about to interview for. On the night before the interview, she finds herself connecting with a hot guy and they wind up sharing a steamy night together. It isn’t until Dory arrives at the interview the next day that she regrets the encounter, since her potential employer is the man she just burned up the sheets with. Wanting to give Dory the break she needs, Porter hires her against his better judgement. But it’s impossible to keep things professional when attraction sizzles between them.

I love Teagan Hunter, but I’ll openly admit that I was skeptical that I would enjoy this one. I’m not a huge fan of the main couple having sex without feelings, especially if it’s for an extended period of time. However, I think Hunter executed it well – while we know these two have seen each other naked, the focus of the book is on their emotional connection and digging into each other’s pasts. I loved Porter – he’s a long-term kind of guy with an adorable daughter, and he’s such a good dad. It was more difficult for me to connect to Dory, especially given how long she holds firm on her no feelings/no kissing rule. That’s really the only thing that holds this back from being a 5-star read. These two stay firm on their no feelings rule for so long that the ending felt rushed and the emotional connection felt a little weak. That being said, I enjoyed the overall tone of the book and liked about 90% of the story. I’m looking forward to more from the series and can’t wait to see what kind of story is next. I received an ARC via Wildfire Marketing Solutions and am voluntarily leaving a review of this sexy romantic comedy.

Slice Book 3
Release Date: February 6

It was just supposed to be one night.
No kissing. No feelings. A wham-bam-thank-you-ma’am tangle in the sheets and we go our own ways.
Only it’s a small town, and I was bound to run into the irresistible Porter Jones again.
I just didn’t expect it to be at my job interview…which he’s conducting.
Now the live-in nanny to his adorable seven-year-old daughter, I’m doing my best to avoid falling for his charms.
Except it’s much harder than either of us anticipated.
What’s a few romps between friends?
No kissing. No feelings. Just fun.
Sounds simple, right?
Right…

Meet Teagan Hunter
I’m a Missouri-raised gal, but currently live in North Carolina with my US Marine husband and 9-year-old dog. I spend my days begging him for a cat, and I survive off coffee, pizza, and sarcasm. When I’m not writing, you can find me binge-watching various TV shows, especially Supernatural and One Tree Hill. I like cold weather, buy more paperbacks than I’ll ever read, and I never say no to brownies.
Writing is my passion, and this is just the beginning of my journey.
