⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Lovable nerdy hero

Loved this nerdy, adorable hero! Opposites definitely attract in this book, which pairs a rock steady, perpetual planner with his niece’s feisty teacher. Where Mason is steadfast, loyal, and honest to a fault, Gabby is fiery, outspoken, and vibrant. It’s a light and sexy read that moves quickly. I’ve got two minor complaints (that I’ll expand upon in a minute), but otherwise it was an enjoyable and fun read.

The story follows Mason, an overprotective uncle to a teenage girl. When she goes on her first date, Mason goes into full-on creepy stalker mode (in the name of protecting his niece from all the teenage boys who are supposedly only thinking of one thing). Gabby, his niece’s teacher, spots the sketchy-looking guy spying on teenagers and has a natural reaction, which causes hilarity to ensue. It’s a completely unique meet cute that leads to these total opposites sparking a connection.

The writing itself is solid, keeping things mostly light but still developing the characters well. I loved Mason, who is not the typical romance hero (and makes a much better impression after the initial meeting). He’s a one-woman kind of man, wants nothing more than to be in a relationship, and is a genuinely nice guy. I enjoyed Gabby, but not to the same extent – while I loved that this features a Latina heroine, I spent a lot of time pondering whether she was described in a way that’s realistic or stereotypical. As I said, there are only two things that hold me back from calling this a 5-star read. For the first half of the book, these two spend significantly more time apart than they do together, and I just wanted more of Mason and Gabby building their relationship. Something also happens towards the end that I didn’t love, but it wasn’t enough to sour an otherwise solid read. I’m definitely looking forward to reading more from this author in the future. I received an ARC via Wildfire Marketing Solutions and am voluntarily leaving a review of this rom com.

Dear V̵e̵r̵y̵ ̵H̵o̵t̵  Crazy Woman,

You didn’t have to call the cops on me.

I was just looking after my niece.

Okay… maybe I shouldn’t have been spying on her date. But I know how teenage boys think and what they want.

Did it make you feel good scolding me in front of everyone for just being a good uncle?

In fact, I’d like to schedule a d̵a̵t̵e̵ ̵o̵v̵e̵r̵ ̵d̵i̵n̵n̵e̵r̵ ̵a̵n̵d̵ ̵w̵i̵n̵e̵ parent teacher conference to discuss our differing views on raising the youth of today s̵o̵ ̵w̵e̵ ̵a̵r̵e̵ ̵o̵n̵ ̵t̵h̵e̵ ̵s̵a̵m̵e̵ ̵p̵a̵g̵e̵ ̵w̵h̵e̵n̵ ̵w̵e̵ ̵h̵a̵v̵e̵ ̵c̵h̵i̵l̵d̵r̵e̵n̵—̵p̵r̵e̵f̵e̵r̵a̵b̵l̵y̵ ̵t̵o̵g̵e̵t̵h̵e̵r̵.
