My go-to weekday reads are always light and a little sexy; romances that lift my spirits and wash away the work day. They don’t always have the same level of depth as those intense, angsty reads (and thus don’t always earn a 5-star rating from me), but they hold a special place in my heart because they just put a smile on my face. Some of these are pure romantic comedy, filled with laughter and plenty of light moments. Some of them dig a little deeper and tug on your heartstrings without getting heavy. Whatever the case may be, they’re all books I would wholeheartedly recommend to help unwind from your day.
I’ve reviewed all of these, so there’s a link included for each one, as well as links so you can snatch up the Kindle edition or paperback and start reading.
Own the Eights by Krista Sandor
Enemies to lovers • A little steamy • Playful and fun
**This was too good to leave out, but the Kindle edition doesn’t release until March 19th (paperback out now)**
Bookshop owner, Georgie Jensen, is done with shallow jerks. Her Own the Eights blog dishes out advice on how to steer clear of egotistical creeps only concerned with looks and status. Her focus is finding one’s true soulmate—not the superficial ten but the solid, reliable eight.
Jordan Marks is the city’s top fitness trainer who won’t settle for anything less than the best. His blog promotes working hard, playing harder, and striving to always be—you guessed it—a ten.
When these two opposites are forced to team-up for an online competition, opinions clash and mouse pads fly.
The twist: there can only be one winner, and if Georgie wants to keep her shop open, that winner needs to be her.
But the more time this eight and this ten spend together, the more they learn that, when it comes to love, a number might not be what matters the most.
Own the Eights is a steamy rom-com full of heart, heat, and oodles of laugh out loud moments!
My Big Fat Fake Wedding by Lauren Landish
Fake relationship • Smoking hot • Funny & a little over the top
He needs a wife.
I need a husband.
It’s just temporary… what could go wrong?
I’ve always wanted the fairy tale wedding. Not for the princess perfect dress or big party, but for Papa.
My grandfather. The only father figure I’ve ever known.
It’s his dying wish to walk me down the aisle.
Gee, no pressure.
But I can grant that wish…
I just have to fake being head over heels in love with Ross Andrews, my best friend’s big brother whom I embarrassingly crushed on all through high school.
Handsome. Knockout sexy. Arrogant jerk extraordinaire.
Our childish pranks and tit-for-tat battles were legendary. Then I grew up.
Not that he ever noticed.
I know it’s a terrible idea, and we’re both in over our heads.
It could be the wedding of a lifetime or a total disaster.
How do we make it to the altar without killing each other first?
Or without falling in love for real?
My Big Fat Fake Wedding is a full-length romance with a HEA and no cliffhanger.
Playing to Win by Stacey Lynn
Second chance • Low angst • Sports romance • Sweet & sexy
It was a three-week fling. Nothing more than a couple of college kids having some fun, but then I did the stupid thing and fell for Jude Taylor quicker than he can score a goal on the ice. And after one beautiful night together, he left for the pros before I could make my first cup of coffee.
I thought I’d put him behind me. I thought I’d moved on. Then he hobbles into my physical therapy office and I realize how absolutely wrong I’ve been—there’s no getting over Jude Taylor.
But now things are complicated. Jude lives half a country away and his career is in direct opposition to my need for stability. Most of all, getting involved with him could mean losing my job and everything I’ve worked so hard for.
Jude doesn’t seem to mind one bit and he’s all in. He might be a patient in my office, but he’s no longer the patient guy I remember.
This time, he’s playing to win, and the prize he’s looking to score is me.

The Runaround by Sylvie Stewart
Fling turned more • Light with depth • Steamy • Single dad
Men are good for two things: orgasms and reaching the wine glasses on the top shelf.
ARI: I’ve always said boyfriends are like martinis; they’re lots of fun at first, but the longer you hang out the bigger headache they’ll give you. The last thing I need is the messy complications of love when I’ve got so many balls in the air and so many goals yet to accomplish. Jax Crosby thinks he can tempt me to take a walk on the scary side and he’s using his daughter to reel me in. But he doesn’t realize that giving yourself to someone else means losing the one and only thing that belongs to just you.
JAX: I like to stay two steps ahead; that way, I’m never surprised. But even I didn’t see this one coming. Congratulations to me—I’m a freakin’ dad. Now I’ve got a teenage daughter who hates me, an ex who wants to cut things off my body I’m not ready to part with, and an attraction to a curvy songbird that couldn’t have come at a worse time. But I’ve never met a situation I couldn’t handle, and I’ve never let a female get the best of me. So why do I have the feeling Ari Amante might be one more thing I never saw coming?
I Dare You by Misti Murphy

Now, Callan is my next sweet mistake.
He’s my secret texter.
The guy I confide in the most.
I feel close to him. I want every piece of him.
But he doesn’t know that I’m the girl he’s been talking to.
And he won’t want me when he finds out the truth.
What happens when tragedy strikes and it’s too late for him to confess his true feelings to me?
Fresh Meet by Jasmin Miller
Low angst • Single dad/nanny • Sports romance • Adorable
Fans call me the king of the water. I’m focused, driven, and most importantly, I win.
Life as a professional swimmer comes with sacrifices, but they’ve never worried me. I’m used to life with little room for anything but training, eating, and sleeping.
Nothing more, nothing less.
When a son I knew nothing about lands on my doorstep—and a crazy but very beautiful nanny shortly after—my life is turned upside down. Allowing any change into my life could put my goals and dreams in jeopardy, and I’ve worked too hard and too long for them.
When I’m tempted to look beyond lap times and medals to bedtime stories and the possibility of love, I face one of the hardest questions of my life: is it worth the risk?
Tonight You’re Mine by Kayley Loring
Instant attraction • Low angst • Office romance
The first time I saw Aimee Gilpin walk into a bar, it was love at first sight. She looks nothing like the women I usually go for, and everything like the woman I’d want to come home to every night. Then my best friend showed up and I had to let him pursue her. It was the right thing to do as a friend and business partner, but the wrong thing to do for my heart.
The second time I see Aimee walk into a bar, she has finally convinced my friend that she isn’t interested, and I was planning on drinking myself into oblivion to avoid calling her. She probably thinks I hate her. I tried to.
Tomorrow I’ll deal with my best friend and the company we built with his money and my brains.
Tonight, she’s mine.
The first time I saw Chase McKay at a bar, I thought I’d met the man of my dreams—I just didn’t recall the man of my dreams looking like the lead singer of a grunge band. Then as soon his friend showed up, Chase bolted like I was his worst nightmare.
The second time I see him in a bar, I can tell by the look in his eyes that we both regret his choice that first night. He has no idea that I just started working for the company that their company is about to start working with.
I don’t want to make things any more complicated than they already are, but I do want him like nobody’s business.
Tomorrow we’ll deal with the fact that Chase, his best friend and I will be working together.
Tonight, he’s mine.
Doughn’t Let Me Go by Teagan Hunter
Steamy • Great banter • Single dad/nanny • One night stand
It was just supposed to be one night.
No kissing. No feelings. A wham-bam-thank-you-ma’am tangle in the sheets and we go our own ways.
Only it’s a small town, and I was bound to run into the irresistible Porter Jones again.
I just didn’t expect it to be at my job interview…which he’s conducting.
Now the live-in nanny to his adorable seven-year-old daughter, I’m doing my best to avoid falling for his charms.
Except it’s much harder than either of us anticipated.
What’s a few romps between friends?
No kissing. No feelings. Just fun.
Sounds simple, right?

One Night Stand-In by Lauren Blakely
Frenemies to lovers • Great banter & chemistry • Steamy
Lucas Xavier is the last person I want to spend 24 hours with, let alone two minutes. Exes are exes for a reason. In his case, for a million reasons. Because he’s not only an ex-lover, he’s also an ex-friend. We didn’t just break up – we combusted in a spectacular bonfire of barbs and doors slammed.
Nothing will change that. Not his clever wit, not his ridiculous good looks, not his unfair levels of charm. And definitely not a wild dash through the city that takes us on an accidental scavenger hunt through our past, where we stop for a tango lesson, pancakes and a visit with some llamas.
And certainly not time together to make amends and say we’re sorry.
But, let’s say that was enough…it’s not like you can fall in love in 24 hours.
Her Bush by Penelope Bloom
Quirky & fun • Rom com • Low angst • Sexy
Everything went wrong when I trimmed his bush.
And no, it’s not what you’re thinking. I’m a professional.
The client hired me to trim a bush in his garden for a party.
I accidentally turned it into something that rhymes with “a big rock and walls”.
Imagine my surprise when the art world decides it’s a masterpiece.
Were my raging hormones the cause of my bush sculpting blunder? I mean, who would blame me if they were? After meeting Harry Barnidge for the first time, my brain went straight to cavewoman mode. There were undignified fantasies of being bashed over the head and carried off to a cave, a significant loss of vocabulary, and maybe even a little drooling.
But I can’t focus on that. On him. I need this job to make my little sister’s dreams come true. Until now, I’ve managed to screw everything in my professional and personal life up, but I’m determined to make this work.
So when Mr. Heartstopper offers to help me manage my accidental art career, it’s impossible to say no.
It’s like the old saying goes. If you erect it, they will come. Or something like that.
I was done with relationships, until her. The new gardener took everything I knew and flipped it upside down. And once I saw her bush? Well, that was when I knew she was something special.
Women have tried a lot of things to get my attention, but Nell’s bush has to be the boldest method. I mean, there was the direct approach, and then there was turning a ten-foot bush into… that.
So of course, I asked her out. And when the biggest art critic in the country declared her bush a work of art, I offered to become her agent… even if my specialty was books.
Now I just have to convince her that I want more than our professional relationship. No matter the cost. Even when my biggest rival wants to steal her from under me and threatens to ruin me if I tell the truth about him.
The Best Man by Lila Monroe
Fake relationship/marriage mistake • Steamy • Great banter
Arthur ‘Fitz’ Fitzwilliam is the hottest, most reckless playboy in town… and my new husband?!
Believe me, I never dreamed that I’d be walking down the aisle to a quickie marriage with a total stranger, but thanks to my eccentric god-mother, an iron-clad will, and a blind, three-legged cat called Alfred (don’t ask), I need to get hitched ASAP. And when the perfect candidate leaves me at the altar, there’s only one person crazy – and drunk – enough to step up at the last minute.
The best man.
Also known as the man most likely to get caught romping with three Rockettes in the back of a Sex and the City tourbus. The man who could melt my panties at twenty paces – and make me want to pour a bucket of ice-water over his head. The man I just pledged to love and honor and… oh god, WHAT HAVE I DONE?!
Our arrangement was clear: keep up the charade long enough for me to claim my inheritance and send my slime-ball cousins packing. Our plan is working perfectly.
Then Fitz decides to change the rules….
My Bestie’s Ex by Piper Rayne
Right guy/wrong time • Great chemistry • A little angst
I can’t borrow him.
He’s not a sweater or a skirt.
He’s not even her favorite dress—the lucky one she wears on first dates. The one she probably wore on her first date with him.
In my defense, I didn’t know who he was. To me, he was a cool, calm, confident stranger. He was perfection for the entire hour and a half train ride while the concrete jungle turned into a rolling green landscape.
To an outsider, we probably appeared more friends than hopeful lovers. But my blush came quickly, and his dimples indented with every smile. We definitely shared a spark of what could be.
Too bad I didn’t know who he was before I fell for him, because he can’t be mine.
Stealing the Bride by Nadia Lee
Rom com • Sexy & fun • One night stand • LOL moments
When the hottest woman I ever slept with leaves me fifty bucks and sneaks out of my bed, I’m completely stunned and left feeling a little…dirty.
Most men might let it go. But I’m not most men. This woman has left her mark and I have to track her down.
Imagine my surprise when I discover that she’s getting married…
So I do what’s most logical: steal the bride. Except…am I even at the right wedding?
Stealing the Bride is a standalone full-length romance novel with a sexy AF billionaire, smart geeky heroine, identical twins and mistaken identity. No cheating, no cliffhanger. Just lots of heat, heart and humor.

After a drunken night of passion, Meadow thought for sure everything had changed between them for the better.

That he could love her.
