WEEKLY WRAP-UP: March 20th

Some great light and sexy reads released this week, which is good timing given all that’s going on in the world right now. If you’re looking for something that will brighten your day, there are some solid candidates here! It was a busy release week, but next week is bursting at the seams with new romance novels, so make sure to carve out a little room in your TBR for some of the books releasing on the 24th and 25th.

I’ve included the blurb and rating for each of the new releases I reviewed this week in case you missed any of the latest posts, as well as a peek at what’s coming next week. There’s also a link to last week’s list – 15 Romance Series to Start Bingeing Now.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Exceeded my expectations

A gorgeous, brooding rock god.
An unstoppable chemistry we fight to ignore.
Desperate passion I want indelibly inked on my soul.

Jobless and financially destitute, I have no choice but to see this tour through. Even with my boss hating my guts. A fact he goes out of his way to prove every chance he gets.

Lucky for me, the best part of Jasper Diamond is his daughter. But being the nanny on the road with one of the world’s biggest rock bands poses more challenges than I was expecting – including falling for the elusive front man.

But with the world chasing after us, how long can we hide what others are determined to exploit?

They say there is a thin line between love and hate.

That all good things must come to an end.

Set on a collision course, nothing could have prepared us for this.

Or for what fate has in store for us.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Light and sexy

Bookshop owner, Georgie Jensen, is done with shallow
jerks.
Her Own the Eights blog dishes out advice on how to steer clear
of egotistical creeps only concerned with looks and status. Her focus is
finding one’s true soulmate—not the superficial ten but the solid, reliable eight.

Jordan Marks is the city’s top fitness trainer who won’t
settle for anything less than the best.
His blog promotes working
hard, playing harder, and striving to always be—you guessed it—a ten.

When these two opposites are forced to team-up for an
online competition, opinions clash and mouse pads fly.

The twist: there can only be one winner, and if Georgie wants to keep her shop open, that winner needs to be her.But the more time this eight and this ten spend together, the more they learn that, when it comes to love, a number might not be what matters the most.

Own the Eights is a steamy rom-com full of heart, heat, and oodles of laugh out loud moments!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ LOVED this

Please tell me that I’m not the only person to track down a guy—who used to be Hollywood’s baddest bad boy before he left LA for good—at his off-the-grid cabin in Alaska, show up unannounced, and find him gloriously naked.

This probably happens all the time…right?

Tell me I’m not alone in my stupidity—that I’m not the only woman who would fall for gorgeous blue eyes and a sexy devilish smirk, even if they belong to a broody, mysterious jerk.

Please. Please. Please. Tell me I’m not alone in this.

For the love of everything, I need all the supportive girl power I can get if I’m going to convince Luca Weaver to come back to Hollywood—otherwise known as the place he hates so much that he ghosted Oscar-level success and escaped to no-man’s-land for the last eight years just to avoid it.

Yeah, don’t worry—that smoke you’re smelling isn’t your house catching fire as you read this…it’s just my career and what was previously known as my heart going up in flames.

Gah. Is it just me, or am I totally, completely, and utterly screwed?

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Humor and heart

Who says you can’t marry the same mistake twice?

Certainly not Nya Perez…because that’s precisely what she’s done.

Liam Watts is the bane of her existence.
Her first love. Father of her child. And breaker of her heart.

Oh, he’s also her ex-husband. Well, he was, anyway…right up til this morning, when she woke up beside him in a Vegas hotel room, sheathed in satin and tulle with a sinking feeling in the pit of her stomach.

If it were just between the two of them, an annulment would be the obvious solution. After all, they wouldn’t be the first to marry and divorce at the little white chapel in the span of twenty-four hours.

But their daughter’s greatest wish has just been granted, and if there’s one heart Nya wants to protect more than her own, it’s Ellie’s.

So, she promises to give it six months.

There’s no way she’ll be swayed by his thick southern drawl, those well-defined abs, or that annoyingly delectable scruff lining his cheeks.

Nope. She’s got it all under control. Six months of playing house, then
everything can go back to the way it was before.

But first she’ll have to muddle through marriage with Liam—take two.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Sweet and cute

Former firefighter Mason Cooper knows how it feels to be burned, both by life and by flame.

Still, nothing could have prepared him for life’s ultimate task—single fatherhood. As the sole provider for his little girl, there’s simply no room in his carefully constructed life for distractions.

When a stray dog lands him in the office of the new local vet, Mason comes face to face with a major complication. Because the new vet in town is none other than his childhood friend, Madeline Woods, the same girl who up and left him without a trace.

Gorgeous, smart, and thoughtful—the more time Mason spends with Maddy, the more he finds himself questioning whether she’s the thing he and his daughter have been missing all along.

But being with Maddy is like playing with fire, and while a little heat might be nice, can he trust her not to burn them both?

⭐️⭐️⭐️ Sweet, but…

From the New York Times bestselling author of One Last Time comes a breathtaking story about first love, second chances, and starting over.

Teagan Berkley is trying her best. A single mom raising a precocious teen, she may have given up on her dreams, but she’s accepted her life in her small beachside hometown. Now the one person who abandoned her when she needed him the most has returned, bringing back memories of what might have been.

Derek Hartz arrives in town with a teenage daughter – and he’s full of guilt over his failed marriage and the way he ended his friendship with Teagan. He’s determined to set things right with her, but first he needs to gain her trust. Something he’s not convinced he deserves.

As Teagan and Derek open up to each other—and confess their deepest secrets—it’s impossible for them to deny what’s always been between them. But just when their happily ever after is within reach, their complicated history surfaces again and threatens to keep them apart. Forever.

My favorite reads of the year (so far)

We’re nearing the end of the quarter and everyone could use a good book recommendation right about now, so I thought it’d be the perfect time to look back on my favorite reads so far this year. Considering I’ve already read almost 100 (crazy, right?) books in 2020, let’s say this is the top 10% and the ones I recommend with ZERO hesitation. If you’ve been following my reviews, they’ll come as no surprise because they’ve all received glowing recommendations from me (with the exception of one that hasn’t released yet). If you haven’t, move these up to the front of your TBR because they’re all outstanding.

Looking at this batch, I clearly have a love for sexual tension and dialogue, as well as straight up CHEMISTRY (and enemies who aren’t really enemies). If that sounds good to you, then these are the perfect kind of books to devour in one sitting.

Up Next:

New releases from Pippa Grant, Winter Renshaw, Willow Winters, M. Robinson, and many more! March 24th is the kind of release day when I would normally recommend taking a “sick” day, but… probably not the wisest idea right now, lol. So I’ll just say that if you find yourself with some free time, there will be PLENTY to look forward to on the 24th and 25th!
