15 One-Click Rom Com Authors

While I’ve always loved rom coms, I’ve found myself seeking them out with a much higher frequency since the start of social distancing. They’re great escapism – light, easy reads that make me laugh and smile, even if I’ve had a rough day. Some are sexy, some are tame, but none of them linger on the angst for long.

Over the years, I’ve discovered countless skilled rom com authors, but I can purchase the following 15 authors’ work without hesitation (sometimes even without reading the blurb!) and know that I’m in for a good read. I’ve sorted the list into two groups – my go-to authors and authors I’ve started to love. There are links to my favorite reads by each author so that you can take a closer look – many of them are free with Kindle Unlimited.

My Go-To Authors for Romantic Comedy:

R.S. Grey

Grey writes tension well, while still managing to maintain a rom com feel to her stories. As someone who loves enemies to lovers romances, this is one of my favorite things about her books – her heroes are often complex and moody (without being total jerks), and her heroines are always relatable and a little sassy. Though there’s steam, it’s not the focus, and though there’s humor, it doesn’t overtake the story. They’re simply light romances with an everyday feel – I could totally see any one of them happening in real life.

Lauren Blakely

Blakely excels at sexy, playful reads that lean into the banter and build up the relationships as the stories progress. Though there are funny moments throughout, they’re much more about the chemistry and connection between the characters, leading up to some steamy moments later on. Her earlier works definitely lean towards the steamy (and her After Dark series is all about the heat), but her recent works are sexy without it being over the top.

I’ve read several of Bloom’s books, and she is excellent at writing comedy. Her Anyone But series was solid all the way through, but many fans may know her better for her Objects of Attraction series, which has a little more steam.
