Blakely never disappoints, and this light, sexy, friends to lovers romance is no exception. It reads quickly, has plenty of playful moments, and just enough steam to keep things sexy. These two have been denying their feelings for each other for a very long time, but there’s an obvious connection and easy conversation that comes from being friends for years. If you like a sexy, charming British hunk then you’ll find it in Oliver – he may have frustrated me a few times, but it was easy to see how much he cares for Summer. Only a couple of minor miscommunication issues took me out of the story; the rest was a very entertaining, easy read.

The story follows Summer and Oliver, friends who’ve had each other’s backs since they were teens. Though they’ve both had decidedly UNfriendly feelings towards the other at times, they’ve been able to push that aside and focus on the friendship. Summer’s been too busy working towards her goals to have a forever guy, and Oliver is unwilling to take the risk of losing someone so important to him, so they’ve kept things platonic. But when a letter from Summer to Oliver goes viral (declaring him the sexiest ex-boyfriend she’s never had), it puts their relationship in the spotlight. Add in a little faking for the fans, and things quickly get out of control.

I always know that I can open up one of Blakely’s books – or in this case, a very well done audiobook – and get lost in a great story. These two dance around their feelings for a lot longer than I would’ve liked, but I was invested in their HEA from start to finish. They’re both likable characters with real, honest vulnerabilities, and watching them figure things out definitely held my attention. It’s perhaps a little less bantery and a little less playful than I’ve come to expect from Blakely, but that went with the tone of the story. There was only one thing that really bugged me (the reason for their first time together) and it was pretty minor in the grand scheme of things. And if you do listen to the audio version, then you’re in for a treat with that sexy British accent and duet narration that makes you feel like you’re listening to a movie. It’s well worth the audio credit and makes the story fly by.
