Loved this hero! It’s my first time reading something from this author but it definitely won’t be my last, because the writing was solid, the characters were compelling, and the storyline was unique enough to hold my interest. I will warn you though – this was on track to receive an easy 5-star rating from me until a SERIOUS fumble towards the end. It completely altered my opinion of the heroine, and had the book not been so strong prior to that, it likely would’ve been a bigger issue for me. That being said, the rest of the book was delightful and I am happy with how things ended.

The story follows Hollie, an American who is just starting an internship in London that could change her life. She’s been living in a trailer park, working as much as possible to help support not only herself but also her parents, and this is her shot to start a career doing what she loves – designing jewelry. When Hollie meets Dexter, a sexy British jeweler, they bond over their shared interest and connect unexpectedly. Though she had planned on remaining focused on her internship, Dexter encourages Hollie to spend time with him and do something for herself for a change.

It’s a serious, sexy book that’s neither heavy nor light. I loved the author’s writing style and the feel of the story. There were a few times when I thought it would be Dexter whose personality would bug me (he’s a serial dater who is still hung up on the one that got away), but I ended up really liking him. Who wouldn’t want a wealthy British man who is genuinely kind and caring? Dexter is the kind of guy who will make you feel like a queen while being respectful and loving. I liked Hollie but my opinion of her is definitely colored by her actions at the end. I won’t go into details there, but there’s some definite miscommunication between these two. We’re introduced to a few characters that I’d love to read more about, so I would absolutely continue with the series. I received an ARC via Candi Kane PR and am voluntarily leaving a review of this sexy romance.
