My reading slump hasn’t been completely busted yet, but I’m happy to report that I’ve read some pretty great books in the last few days. And a few of this week’s new releases were just the kind light-hearted, playful reads to hold my interest right now. Two of this week’s releases are books from some of my favorites, while another is a debut from a promising new writer.
If you read my Teaser Tuesday post (found here), you know that there are plenty more exciting books on the way this month. I’ll have reviews going up throughout the week!
If you missed any of this week’s reviews, I’ve got the blurb and rating for each below. There’s also a link to my list of 15 Slow Burn to SIZZLE Romances and this week’s Deals and Steals list.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Tension-filled and sexy
Hate the Player, a slow burn and hilarious romantic comedy from New York Times bestselling author Max Monroe is LIVE EARLY!
“Roses are red, violets are blue, stay away from Andrew Watson’s *ahem* because no other women ever do.”
That’s quite the way to start a conversation at a casual lunch, huh? Grilled chicken, French fries, and pelvic-fatigue, oh my!
And that’s not even the worst of it.
My friend Raquel didn’t pull any punches when she warned me about my brand-new co-star and his notoriously player-esque ways. Apparently, my most important mission on my first role in a feature film is to stay immune to his charms.
Are you kidding me? Production costs on this movie are in the hundreds of thousands a day, and staying away from a panty-whispering, vajayjay-charmer is supposed to be at the top of my list? Pfft. Puh-lease.
It doesn’t matter that he’s annoyingly attractive, uber rich, crazy famous, and lusted after by ninety percent of the female population; Andrew Watson is trouble with a capital T—especially for a woman like me.
As a preventative measure, I’ve decided to go ahead and hate him.
Don’t worry, you guys, I’m completely in control. There’s absolutely no way I’m going to do something stupid like fall in love with him.
I can hate the player but still secretly love his addictive game.
I’m sure of it.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Lust over love
A sexy standalone romance with a single dad you’ll fall hard for!
It should be an easy rule to follow – don’t bang your boss…
But I didn’t know who he was when I met him.
And the first time I saw him, our connection sounded like the stuff of romantic legends — that whole “their eyes locked across a crowded room” moment that turned into more.
I didn’t believe it. . . . until it happened to me.
Fine, the charming, clever, sexy-as-sin guy in the tailored suit was only trying to buy the same Snoopy lunchbox (as a gift!), but still, our eyes totally locked, and my lady parts definitely tingled as we vied for the prize.
Naturally, I did what any badass business woman would do. Negotiated for the lunchbox, then found my what-if guy online and made plans to see him the next night.
One night only — that was the deal we made.
But one fantastic night had us both changing our minds in the morning. And making plans for another.
Until I walked into the office to learn he just bought my company.
And here’s the biggest rule of romantic legends — no matter what, don’t bang your boss.
Especially if you’re already falling for him.
THE WHAT IF GUY is a sexy standalone you can escape into! The other standalone romances in The Guys Who Got Away series include The What If Guy!

⭐️⭐️⭐️ Lots of potential
NHL’s golden boy, Bishop Maverick, knows all too well how a haunting past can taint your future.
It seems his entire life all people have done is leave. So what does a man do when he has so little? He pours everything into the only thing that he has left. Hockey. This sport has brought him a family, hope, something to work for, but what was the one thing he never expected for it to bring him?
A green-eyed, wild child with a soul that brings him back home.
Valor Sullivan was raised on the ice by a single father who inspired her love for hockey. With a mouth that would make a sailor blush, and fiery red hair she is a force to be reckoned with on and off the ice. There doesn’t seem to be anything hard work won’t get her. Well, everything but him. Bishop is her Endgame.
The only problem? He’s eight years older and one of her father’s closest friends.
Fate blurs the lines of past and present to pull these two together. The only question is…
Were they always meant to be? Or damned from the start?
Love & Hockey is a standalone, age-gap, romance. It deals with sensitive subjects some may find triggering.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ Super angsty
Imagine lying in a hospital bed and the doctor who pulls the curtain back to treat you is the one who got away. Even if you never really had her in the first place. She’s not only your high school crush, she’s the ex-girlfriend of your ex-best friend. The one girl you’ve always wanted.
Here’s a step-by-step list to finally win her over…
Key to win #1: Try not to take offense that she snuck back into town without telling you—six months ago.
Key to win #2: Rekindle the friendship to ease the awkwardness. But… DO NOT enter the friend zone.
Key to win #3: Ignore the fact that she went speed dating the night before. Take it as good a sign—maybe she’s looking for a relationship.
Key to win #4: Attempt to keep the two of you out of the town gossip blog and away from your large family.
Make sure you don’t let this last one throw you off your mission.
Key to win #5: Don’t get deterred when you find out the past is about to repeat itself. Because the man she met at the speed dating night is your best buddy from work.
Just remember, you sat back and let her slip away once, you won’t do it a second time. Failure is not an option.

15 Slow Burn to SIZZLE Romances
I love all of the tension and the emotional build that comes with a slow burn romance, but I also want there to be a payoff in the end. All of that chemistry has to combust at some point; crackling with electricity until it reaches its breaking point. The fifteen books on this list all make the reader wait until the perfect moment to get steamy, whether they’re a hot slow burn or the attraction is set to simmer. Each one has received a 5-star rating from me, and I recommend them without hesitation.
I’ve included the blurb as well as links to Amazon for each book so that you can get a feel for the story. From light to heavy, sexy to subtle, there’s something for every reader on this list. Just know that once things take a turn for the steamy, you may need to fan yourself! Check out the complete list here.
