WEEKLY WRAP-UP: August 21st

We’re going to call this week… the calm before the storm! It was a high quality release week, with two books that will surely be making my best of the month list. I enjoyed all four books, and have been reading up a storm in preparation for next week’s RIDICULOUSLY busy release week.

If you read my Teaser Tuesday post (found here), you know that there are plenty of exciting books on the way next week. The 25th is an absolutely HUGE release day, so clear out some room on your TBR. I’ll have reviews going up throughout the week!

If you missed any of this week’s reviews, I’ve got the blurb and rating for each below. There’s also a link to this week’s Deals and Steals list.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely LOVED this

The #1 New York Times bestselling author of Verity and Regretting You delivers another breathtaking romance with a magnetic suspense that will keep you glued to the pages.

Life and a dismal last name are the only two things Beyah’s parents ever gave her. After carving her path all on her own, Beyah is well on her way to bigger and better things, thanks to no one but herself.
With only two short months separating her from the future she’s built and the past she desperately wants to leave behind, an unexpected death leaves Beyah with no place to go during the interim. Forced to reach out to her last resort, Beyah has to spend the remainder of her summer on a peninsula in Texas with a father she barely knows. Beyah’s plan is to keep her head down and let the summer slip by seamlessly, but her new neighbor Samson throws a wrench in that plan.

Samson and Beyah have nothing in common on the surface. She comes from a life of poverty and neglect; he comes from a family of wealth and privilege. But one thing they do have in common is that they’re both drawn to sad things. Which means they’re drawn to each other. With an almost immediate connection too intense for them to continue denying, Beyah and Samson agree to stay in the shallow end of a summer fling. What Beyah doesn’t realize is that a rip current is coming, and it’s about to drag her heart out to sea.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ SO GOOD

“Hard Fall”

That’s what my mom is always saying: “The bigger you are, the harder you fall.” She’s talking about love—I’ve never been in it myself, but that doesn’t stop me from secretly matchmaking for my friends. Who would suspect me, a world class athlete, of meddling in other people’s love lives? I love Love, especially when it’s not me who’s doing the falling…

“No Thanks.”

That’s what Hollis Westbrooke said when I asked her on a date. Well, propositioned her, actually—but it was all a big joke; one she doesn’t think is funny. My stomach is in knots since I might actually like this girl so the joke is on me. Hollis’s father is my boss—and she doesn’t date players.

The bigger they are, the harder they fall—especially when biggest player is me.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Recovers after a rocky start

Devney Maxwell has been my best friend since we were six years old, but she has no idea I’m in love with her.

Even when I’m on the road playing professional baseball, she’s my home–the only one I’ve ever known. But when I return to Sugarloaf to care for the family farm, I discover she’s trying to talk herself into a life with the wrong man … and I become desperate.

It only takes a single, perfect kiss to change everything.

I have six months to get it right with Devney–to convince her to leave this town and turn that kiss into forever.

I aim to do just that as I spend my days coaching her nephew’s baseball team, fixing up the farm, and loving her with all I have. Finally, it seems like our relationship is secure and we’ll find a way to make it work.

Then tragedy strikes … changing her life forever. She’s needed here more than ever, but as for me–there’s no way I can stay.

I know she’s the one for me, but I might have to let her go …

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Light and sexy

Love romantic comedies? Enjoy the sizzling new standalone romance from USA Today bestselling author, Lila Monroe!

I need a happily-ever-after — and fast. I finally landed my dream job as a book editor when our new boss announces that the company is about to go bust.
Our only hope? Getting a famously eccentric romance author to deliver her new novel.. eight years overdue. Oh, and that infuriating, arrogant new CEO? Turns out he’s the mysterious guy who made out with me in the street last night, leaving my head spinning, and my other parts…

Well, let’s just say, I won’t be needing my e-reader for inspiration alone in bed tonight.

I can’t figure out if I want to slap his infuriatingly handsome face — or kiss it senseless, but either way, we’re stuck working together to magic a bestseller out of thin air. And maybe it’s the late nights, or the steamy material, but Liam Sterling isn’t the snooty jerk I thought.

Soon, our chemistry is sizzling out of control. But can we find our happily-ever-after, or will we burn out before the final chapter? Find out in the hot and hilarious new rom-com from Lila Monroe!
