This was such a fun read! Low angst and playful, it pairs a moody businessman with a mousy letter carrier who gets in over her head. I loved the opposites attract vibe and watching this self-proclaimed villain get tamed by our sweet, demure heroine. Their interactions brightened up the story, and that’s really my main complaint – I wanted more of them together. This one’s got a few too many gaps in interactions and too much of a serious vibe at times, though every scene they were in together was rom com gold. If you’re looking for a light, quirky rom com and love a grumpy hero, then this is a solid read.
The story follows Noelle, a letter carrier who is willing to do whatever it takes to save her apartment building from being torn down – even if doing so is out of her comfort zone. When a case of mistaken identity works in her favor, Noelle finds herself running court-ordered empathy training for the businessman set to tear down her home. If she saves her home and makes Malcolm a better man in the process, why not? But as the two spend time together and drive each other a little bit crazy, Noelle quickly realizes there might be more to Malcolm than meets the eye.
It’s light, funny, and an easy, relaxing read. These two are total opposites and watching them slowly fall for each other was so much fun. I will admit that it took me longer to get into this one, probably because Noelle is so reserved and timid, but that’s all part of the story. The plot is a little outlandish but a lot of fun, and anyone who likes to see a grumbly hero fall hard will be sold on Malcolm. He’s endearingly moody and their chemistry grows as the story goes along. It’s a definite slow burn, but will easily put a smile on your face. I’m looking forward to more of this series and can’t wait to see what’s next. I received an early copy and am voluntarily leaving a review of this playful rom com.
