⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ REVIEW: The Christmas Blanket by Kandi Steiner

Sexy and emotional, this little novella packs a punch! I’m seriously impressed with how complete this second chance romance feels – the forced proximity and established history between our couple mean that the focus is on them getting to know one another again. It’s light one minute and emotional the next, but there’s a heartwarming, festive feel throughout. I can be extremely picky about my second chance romances, so I was very happy to discover that this one worked for me. It’s just the kind of quick, cozy romance that I love to read around the holidays.

The story follows Eliza, a woman who has been traveling the world for the last four years. She’s returned home for a visit as a surprise for the holidays, but sincerely hopes she doesn’t run into her ex-husband. Things don’t quite work out that way, and Eliza soon finds herself stuck in a cabin with River, forced to communicate with the man she left behind. These former high school sweethearts have the kind of history that runs deep, and spending time together just before Christmas brings that all to the surface.

If I’m going to read a second chance romance, I like it be one just like this. You can feel the history and the love between these two, but circumstances tore them apart. Yes, they both should’ve fought harder for the relationship, but there’s nothing insurmountable here. I also loved the lack of drama and the forced proximity that doesn’t allow these two to avoid the situation. It’s a quick 1-2 hour read, but the writing is solid, the angst is low, and the feels are strong.

Blurb:

From bestselling author Kandi Steiner comes a cozy second-chance romance about love, loss, and adventure…

When I decided to surprise my family in Wellhaven, Vermont for Christmas, I never could have known that I’d get a surprise of my own — in the form of an unexpected blizzard.

I haven’t been home in four years, not since I left this town with my eyes set on adventure.

And my heart set on forgetting the only man I’ve ever loved.

River Jensen — my ex-husband.

I don’t plan on seeing him during my visit. I definitely don’t plan on him saving me when my little rental car slides off the icy road. And the last thing I could have ever prepared for is being stuck in a tiny cabin with him, waiting out the storm.

Four years have passed since I’ve seen him — the boy I loved, now a man I don’t know at all.

But being stuck inside with him leaves us nothing but time together.

Everything about him has changed, and yet, he still has the same forest green eyes that have haunted me since I left. Back then, we were at an impasse. Back then, there was nothing left to talk about, nothing left to fix. Back then, the only choice I had was to leave and start anew.

But the more I re-discover the man I left behind, the more I question why I ever left at all.

And if I’m too late to find my way back home.

The Christmas Blanket is a stand-alone holiday novella set in a snowy small town in Vermont.

About the Author:

Kandi Steiner is a bestselling author and whiskey connoisseur living in Tampa, FL. Best known for writing “emotional rollercoaster” stories, she loves bringing flawed characters to life and writing about real, raw romance — in all its forms. No two Kandi Steiner books are the same, and if you’re a lover of angsty, emotional, and inspirational reads, she’s your gal.

An alumna of the University of Central Florida, Kandi graduated with a double major in Creative Writing and Advertising/PR with a minor in Women’s Studies. She started writing back in the 4th grade after reading the first Harry Potter installment. In 6th grade, she wrote and edited her own newspaper and distributed to her classmates. Eventually, the principal caught on and the newspaper was quickly halted, though Kandi tried fighting for her “freedom of press.” She took particular interest in writing romance after college, as she has always been a die hard hopeless romantic, and likes to highlight all the challenges of love as well as the triumphs.

When Kandi isn’t writing, you can find her reading books of all kinds, talking with her extremely vocal cat, and spending time with her friends and family. She enjoys live music, traveling, anything heavy in carbs, beach days, movie marathons, craft beer and sweet wine — not necessarily in that order.
