Forgettable, that’s how I’d describe this one. It’s not bad, but not all that compelling either, and I’m probably going to forget the plot in a few days. Essentially, this moves at such a rapid pace that there’s no time to settle into the story and actually connect with the couple. It’s only a little bit longer than a novella yet there are probably 5 or 6 time jumps, and that’s its biggest downfall. I liked the premise, I liked the characters, I liked the writing most of the time, but it didn’t slow down long enough for me to care about the relationship.
The story follows Alex and Delilah, two people who went to summer camp together years ago. They crushed on each other and even shared a few kisses, but lost contact after they went home. When they’re reunited during a two-week cabin trip, Alex and Delilah make up for lost time and soon find themselves connecting in a very adult way. But, once again, their time together has an expiration date, and they have to decide how their story will end this time around.
I’ve been meaning to check out this author’s work, and I can’t say that this completely won me over. It’s definitely more about the steam than the substance, heating up early on and staying that way throughout. There are probably more scenes with these two in the bedroom than there are of them spending time together out of it, so it’s sexy but superficial. Add in the multiple time jumps, and I just couldn’t connect with these two. The steam was somewhat expected, but there’s also got to be a good story to back it up, and that’s not really the case here. But if you’re looking for a sexy, instalove-style story with touches of angst, this might work better for you. I received an early copy and am voluntarily leaving a review of this steamy second chance romance.

Blurb:
A swoon-worthy romance from USA Today Bestselling Author J.H. Croix!
A second chance for Christmas.
Delilah
I never thought I’d see Alex Blake again. Most certainly not on the side of a snowy highway in Alaska.
The memory of his summer kisses kept me warm on lonely nights for years. Life and geography got in the way.
When my car skids off the highway in the darkness in Alaska, I’m plenty bitter and I’ve lost all faith in fantasies.
I didn’t count on Alex, didn’t count on him setting me on fire, and definitely not on him betting it all on us.
Alex
I never could forget Delilah Carter even though she was nothing more than a memory. Until I find her stranded on a snowy highway a few thousand miles away from where I last saw her.
The years don’t matter. This time, I get to make our wishes come true.
