Light, funny, and a little bit charming, this is quintessential Quinn with a touch of something new. It’s tamer and more of a heartwarming comedy than her usual, leaning into the funny in the first half before shifting into a sweet – yet still very sexy – romance. Though it got off to a bit of a slow start for me (just because I wanted it to be more romance-focused), it transitioned into a very solid, subtle read. The humor is still prevalent throughout, but these strangers-turned-rivals become friends and then lovers. And don’t let that cover fool you; this is still a sexy romance – it just takes a little longer to get there.
The story follows Luna and Alec, two strangers who find themselves in a wedding-focused competition because of their respective family members. While Luna is close with her family and just wants her brother to have the perfect wedding to the man of his dreams, Alec’s family situation is different. As a divorce attorney who often sees the dark side of marriage, Alec has become jaded about love. And his own family relationships have suffered because of that. These two opposites clash from the start, competing against each other until their relationship slowly changes. It’s not long before Alec starts to see the positives of love once again, and he may get more than he bargained for.
I’m a huge fan of Quinn’s rom coms, and this was another great read from her. After seeing the cover, I wondered if this would be a departure from her usual, and it both IS and ISN’T. The feel is very much like her other books, with laugh out loud funny moments, a hero who becomes more endearing once you get to know him better, and a slow burn romance that gets a little steamy in the back half. But I would also say that it’s more family-focused and perhaps lighter than what I’ve come to expect from the author, which took a little while for me to adjust to. I do think it’s too long, but once the romance became more prominent, it completely won me over. If you’re looking for a light, fun, and kinda sexy read, then look no further.

USA Today bestselling author Meghan Quinn’s latest bauble is the charming story of a crafting queen battling a jaded divorce lawyer on a wedding reality show.
Luna Rossi is a veritable crafting genius—she can bedazzle and bead so hard her Etsy site is one of the hottest in the world. So it’s only natural that Luna would convince her brother and his husband-to-be to compete on The Wedding Game, a “do-it-yourself” TV show, for the title of Top DIY Wedding Expert.
As a jaded divorce lawyer, Alec Baxter scoffs at weddings and romance. But when his recently engaged brother begs him to participate in The Wedding Game, Alec grudgingly picks up a glue gun and prepares for some family bonding.
Both fierce competitors, Luna and Alec clash on national TV as harsh words and glitter fly with abandon. But as they bicker over color swatches and mood boards, they find themselves fighting something else: their growing mutual attraction. While Luna is torn between family loyalty and her own feelings, Alec wonders if he might have been wrong about love and marriage all along…

Yes, I was very excited to see it being offered! The selections can be hit or miss and don’t often include traditional romance. Even this was less romance-focused than Quinn’s usual.

Maybe that’s why they picked it, if it’s on the border of women’s fiction. She probably published it with Montlake, traditionally published books often feel different from indie romance.

Yes, probably! She had another series with Montlake too, and it was still very much romance but with a different vibe.
