If you’re looking for a quick and sexy small town romance, this is a solid pick. It’s kinda predictable with a few clichés that I rolled my eyes at (a protective sheriff who has “rules” for his dating life and likes a lot of dirty talk that involves what a “bad girl” his woman has been), but the writing is good overall. I personally think that the first two books in the series of interconnected standalones were stronger, but it wasn’t a bad way to spend my day. If you haven’t read the first two books, you won’t have any trouble following along, but fans of the series will appreciate the small town connections. It’s an easy, steamy read, and I enjoyed it overall.
The story follows Aidan and Megan, two strangers who meet when Megan is in a car accident. Newly divorced, Megan is supposed to be passing through town when her car is damaged, and now she needs to stick around while the considerable repairs are made. As a sheriff’s deputy, Aidan has a protective steak, and he can’t seem to stay away from the sexy stranger who is so clearly in need of a helping hand. Aidan reluctantly opens up his home to Megan, and it’s not long before his heart begins to open up to her as well. But Megan is just passing through town, and neither one is looking for a relationship – so the chemistry that sparks between is more trouble than anything.
I liked both of these characters quite a bit, and I never mind the strong, silent type of hero. Aidan may be reserved and reluctant about falling in love, but he’s got a sweet side that made him easy to like. I do wish that this felt more original; the first two books in the series had more interesting and unique storylines, while this one didn’t hold many surprises. I’ve definitely read many books like this one before, but sometimes that’s just what you’re craving. Ultimately, this sits somewhere between 3 and 4 stars for me, but I liked the majority of it. I received an early copy and am voluntarily leaving a review of this strangers to lovers romance.
Life was simple. Until she wrecked his heart.
Aidan Reynolds has enough to handle being interim sheriff in the small tourist town of Madison Ridge. With a woefully understaffed force and the busy season approaching, he doesn’t have time to babysit a big city stranger who literally crashes into his life.
When Megan Gentry wrecks her car passing through town, he’s just doing his job making sure her vehicle gets towed, the town doc stitches her up, and she has a roof over her head for the night. But peak tourist season means no vacancies and while he’s a broody bastard preferring an orderly life, his job is to protect and serve. And that includes the captivating Megan.
But every moment together makes it harder to keep his distance. If he’s not careful, she’ll break more than just his rules.
When it comes time for her to leave, will he stop her?
Or will he let her go and wreck his heart in the process?
Author’s Note: A steamy opposites attract, small town romance with a charmingly messy heroine, broody, protective hero, and a new perspective on caramel syrup.

I’ve enjoyed all three books in this series of interconnected standalones. They’re all sexy, emotional stories set in a small town.
