Small town charm with a side of steam – this was cute! I love a good enemies to lovers romance and a fish out of water story is always a fun time, so this was right up my alley. The story remains light, sexy, and playful throughout, which makes it fly by. It’s got humor, steam, and the heart of a small town romance. There was never a time when I LOVED it, but it’s solid from start to finish – an easy, lighthearted read.
The story follows Grant, a businessman who frequently uses questionable tactics to get what he wants. When Grant meets the sexy beekeeper who is the decision-maker regarding the land he wants to acquire, he’s caught off-balance. Jo is a small town girl who has no plans to fall for a city guy with ulterior motives – but he certainly does fill out a pair of jeans nicely. As the two spend more time together, Jo has to ask herself a question… why not sleep with her sexy enemy, if he’s just going to leave town without what he wants anyways? The only trouble is, small town life is starting to win Grant over.
I always enjoy Hart’s sexy, easy reads, and this was another fun one. It’s low angst and full of humor, so the story moves pretty quickly. It’ll easily read as a standalone if you’re not caught up on the series, though there are appearances from several returning characters. I liked it the whole way through, but there was just something missing for me. I think it’s that both characters make a bad first impression: Grant definitely seems like an unscrupulous jerk, and Jo’s hatred of him is over the top. I grew to like them a lot more as the story went on. It’s not long before Jo is admiring Grant’s “assets,” and I would’ve appreciated some more romantic moments – sex “without” feelings is not one of my personal favorites. But those are minor complaints about an otherwise fun read; it’s just what I look for in a small town romance. I received an early copy and am voluntarily leaving a review of this enemies to lovers romance.

Blurb:
When the devil comes to town, you have to meet him head-on.
Which is exactly what I did when Grant Stone rolled into our small Texas town, driving a sports car I could fit in the bed of my truck, wearing a suit as black as his soul. He’s here to acquire mineral rights to half a dozen farms in town.
And there’s no way he’s getting mine.
I don’t make deals with the devil.
So when he challenges me to show him the small town ropes, my motivation is the prospect of seeing him make a fool of himself. He might have an angle, but if he thinks he can finagle me into endangering my bee farm, he’s got another thing coming.
Until the line in the sand is washed away.
My farm in danger. A town in upheaval. A man who will stop at nothing to get what he wants.
And me in the middle.
When the devil comes to town, you have to meet him head-on.
And when he sneaks into your heart, he’ll only break it.

About the Author:
Staci has been a lot of things up to this point in her life: a graphic designer, an entrepreneur, a seamstress, a clothing and handbag designer, a waitress. Can’t forget that. She’s also been a mom to three little girls who are sure to grow up to break a number of hearts. She’s been a wife, even though she’s certainly not the cleanest, nor is she the best cook. She’s also super, duper fun at a party–especially if she’s been drinking whiskey–and her favorite word starts with f and ends with k.
From roots in Houston to a seven year stint in Southern California, Staci and her family ended up settling somewhere in between and equally north in Denver, where snow is magic and the mountains have become home. When she’s not writing, she’s reading, gaming, or designing graphics.
