Instalovers, this one is for you! The title makes complete sense, because this couple breaks the speed limit on how fast a relationship can progress. Our loving and protective hero is smitten at first sight, and he will stop at nothing to show his girl all of the love that she’s been missing in her life. That means the relationship moves at lightning speed and I sometimes had whiplash, but I really enjoyed how low-drama that actual relationship felt. Our hero was ALL IN from the start, and it was immensely refreshing to read about a genuinely good, non-manhoe hero who doesn’t blink an eye when he discovers the girl he’s falling for is a single mom with some drama in her past. The scenes with Gabby’s little boy were ADORABLE, pairing perfectly with the plentiful steamy scenes. It’s a heartfelt, sexy read that spends most its time building and growing the relationship after they’ve already fallen from the start.
The story follows Stefano, a thirty-something mechanic whose overbearing Italian mother would love to see him married and giving her grandbabies. He’s not exactly opposed to the idea either, but the right girl hasn’t come into his life… until now. It only takes moments in Gabby’s presence for Stefano to become infatuated, and the two share a connection that just feels RIGHT. But Gabby hasn’t had the best of luck with guys in the past, so she’s skeptical that Stefano is the kind of guy he seems to be on the surface. The tattooed, Italian mechanic with the flirty lines should intimidate her, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. As the two build on their initial chemistry, they handle all of the obstacles in their path.
I absolutely LOVED Revved to the Maxx, so I was excited to get back into this world… even if the atrocious covers sometimes make me embarrassed to recommend the series. Cover issues aside, this was a very solid addition to the series, and also easy to read as a standalone if you haven’t read Revved. The vibe is low angst, swoon-inducing, and definitely STEAMY. The chemistry is obvious, and I loved the playful feel. There’s a little bit of suspense to keep things interesting, but the overall book is lighthearted and almost wholesome, I suppose. Stefano is a protective, slightly overbearing guy with the biggest heart. I really liked him. Honestly, the only thing that keeps me from calling this a 5-star read is the pacing. They just got together SO FAST that it felt like I missed them falling in love… they were already there. I sometimes shook my head at the sheer speed at which their relationship accelerated – like, GIRL, are you really letting this strange man practically move in after a couple of days with your son around? Sometimes the decision-making was questionable, but they were clearly caught up in their swoons. It certainly made it a low drama, devourable read though, and Stefano was such a sweetheart. I received an early copy and am voluntarily leaving a review of this instalove romance.
