⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ REVIEW: The Dealmaker by Jessica Peterson

A solid series starter, this steamy office rivals romance flies by. I learned a little more about stockbroking than I wanted, lol, but it’s got a light and sexy vibe that works for the story. What starts as strangers to instant enemies quickly transitions into instalove kind of vibes, and that worked because of the situation. It only takes one business trip (with only one bed, of course) for these two to see each other in a different light, and I loved that the hero is actually a sweetheart of a family man buried underneath his jerkish exterior. They’ve got great chemistry, and there’s plenty of steam to heat up the pages. We also meet several other characters around the office, and I’m already envisioning future love stories. So this was definitely a win overall.

The story follows Nora, a trader who has worked hard to prove herself in a profession that is dominated by men. She’s up for a promotion, and it seems like her coworkers might soon forget her one misstep – sleeping with the boss. But when Nora discovers that the company has just hired another broker who has a reputation as an uncaring, workaholic jerk, Nora’s hopes of getting promoted seem to be extinguished. Theo soon lives up to his reputation, and it’s not long before they’re arguing over every little thing. It’s only after seeing each other outside of the office that Nora and Theo’s relationship starts to shift. Theo isn’t the guy he portrays himself to be at work, and Nora can’t seem to resist his real personality… even if she’s already fully aware that mixing business with pleasure is a terrible idea.

I fully anticipated this being sexual tension-filled, enemies to lovers goodness, and it certainly starts out that way. Nora and Theo get on each other’s nerves from the start, and I was kinda hoping for some hate sex, lol. But the story goes in an unexpected direction, and it stays a lot lighter and sweeter than I anticipated. Still very steamy, but with more of an instalove-style romance. I did love the forced proximity, the business trip adventures, and how adorable Theo ended up being. There’s too much actual stockbroker talk for me, but it never hurts to learn something new, I guess. As the start of a brand new series, this is the perfect place to jump in, and it’s easy to read as a standalone. I’m curious about some of the other office dynamics, and I’m sure there will be more steamy, easy reads.

Blurb:

Hating and dating: I didn’t realize they’re two sides of the same coin until I met him. Theo Morgan.

One of Wall Street’s highest-paid traders, he may be hot as sin in his five-thousand-dollar custom-made suit. But Theo is the bane of my existence. He’s arrogant, rude, and as brash as they come.

As our bank’s newest star hire, he’s also after the same promotion I am. But I didn’t make it this far in a man’s world just to be passed over for an entitled egomaniac. Two can play at this game.

In a surprise to exactly no one, Theo and I butt heads from the beginning–and end up losing my biggest client with a trade gone bad. Our boss’s punishment: fly us to California together to make nice with the client—or else.

When a snowstorm back home leaves us stranded on the West Coast, we learn our hotel is fully booked, save for one room.

And of course that room would have only one king-sized bed. After a little too much wine, our deal to stick to opposite sides of that bed goes out the window. But on the flight home, my resolve to keep things professional remains intact, until Theo offers me a new deal.

The gloves (and clothes) can come off. But the lipstick stays on…

THE DEALMAKER is an all-new, outrageously sexy romantic comedy!
