Not a whole lot of new releases next week, honestly! It’s too close to the holiday to put out (most) holiday romances and too soon to get a jump on the new year, so we’re in that little winter lull. I’m cleaning up my 2022 TBR and getting posts prepped for my Best of the Year lists, so it’s the perfect time to take a peek at the books that are already on your kindle – and anticipate the ones to come.
Dec 16: The Target by Lena Hendrix
All I wanted was a break from my small town life. Not to be stuck driving across the country with my older brother’s gorgeous, infuriating best friend. Charming, cocky federal agent Scott Dunn is back in my life. And I hate him.
Four years ago, Scotty was the center of every one of my fantasies. He was funny, kind, and eleven years older than me–a protector. But one ill-timed confession and he vanished from my life without so much as a goodbye.
Now I am called to testify against the men who kidnapped me and the gorgeous, infuriating man I tried so hard to forget is assigned to protect me. I want answers and he refuses to give them.
But as much as he claims to hate me too, I see the way his eyes linger on my skin. How his hands itch to reach out. He understands me in a way I’ve never let another man get close enough to know. My scars, physical and emotional, are a constant reminder of the girl I used to be.
A girl I try to forget.
As we travel across the country, the tension and simmering heat becomes unbearable. He’s pushing me outside my comfort zone while I’m desperately searching for control––until I realize Scott is more than willing to give it to me.Once this is over, I know he’ll disappear again. But for now, he’s surrendering his control, and I’m going to take it.
Dec 27: You Had Your Chance, Lee Burrows by Piper Rayne
Lee f’ing Burrows
The Kingsmen’s star quarterback.
Legendary throwing arm.
Oh, but don’t forget, he’s also a lying, heartless egomaniac who broke my heart in college.
It took me years to build myself back up after his deceit, and now I have the dream opportunity to prove myself working as a sports therapist for a professional team.
The hurdle? Or mountain to be more accurate…
The job is with the San Francisco Kingsmen.
Back when I was a naïve college girl, I felt lucky that he even noticed me. Now eight years later, he’d be lucky if I gave him the time of day.
Which I won’t. Not ever.
Some people don’t deserve a second chance and Lee Burrows is one of them.
Now if someone could only tell him that because he’s hell-bent on scoring the winning touchdown and won’t accept that it’s game over for us.
Dec 27: The Intern by Marni Mann
A scorching hot enemies-to-lovers office romance from USA Today best-selling author Marni Mann …
In the legal world, everyone knows my last name. So, when Declan Shaw—the hottest, most ruthless and sought-after litigator in the state—comes in to mentor my class’s mock trial, I decide not to reveal that piece of personal information.
I want a one-on-one with him like I’m any other law student, especially when we go out to celebrate after class.
But the one-on-one ends with us in the alley behind the bar.
With us stripping off our clothes.
With me screaming his name.
It’s desperate-to-have-you, no-holds-barred, downright filthy sex.
And then, he ghosts me, like a complete alphahole.
But a few weeks later, when I walk into The Dalton Group—my family’s law firm—where I’m starting my internship, my new boss is waiting for me.
The man I despise.
The man I can still taste in my fantasies.
