Teaser Thursday

February goes out with a bang, with a busy release week – particularly for smaller indie releases. I’m looking forward to doing some sampling and seeing which mood strikes! I’ve also got some catching up to do on this week’s releases, as I was under the weather for half the week. Take a peek at some of the books releasing in the next week below.

Feb 23: Anger Banger by SM Shade

The residents of Happy Haven Trailer park have been waiting for this for a long time. The slumlord who abandoned this place and let our homes deteriorate has been court ordered to live here while making repairs.
Imagine our surprise when the guy who shows up to move in to the dilapidated trailer across the street isn’t the sixty year old man we expected, but his son.
With a teasing smile and unshakeable positive attitude, Cooper Addington Junior pushes every one of my buttons. It doesn’t help that he also looks like he stepped off a fitness magazine cover.
The women who live here are all over him, but for some reason he’s focused on me. Too bad I see through his good guy act and I’m not falling for some spoiled rich boy.
What I am going to do is keep my eye on him and make sure he’s doing his job. I’m the one who took his father to court in the first place and he can’t put anything over on me.

Book Two in the Happy Haven Series of connected standalone novels. Can be read as a standalone.

Feb 27: A Duet of Darkness and Dreams by L.H. Blake

When you’re lucky enough to have everything you’ve ever wanted, you might just lose out on what matters the most.

Ambitious college student Isabella Rodriguez wants to be a journalist more than anything. Unfortunately, those misogynistic jerks at her school newspaper refuse to sit up and take her seriously. Never in a million years would she have thought that writing about a metal band would be her foot in the door to achieving her dreams. Of course, it helps when there’s a super sexy drummer in that band willing to give her the inside scoop—even if all they can ever be is friends.

After getting signed to a record label and moving his band to San Francisco, Dave Noblar has finally made it—sort of. Now that he’s here, things aren’t going exactly the way he’d hoped, and he’s not about to let himself be distracted by the beautiful, smart journalism student who’s writing about his band. Especially when his bandmate forbids him from becoming involved with her. Besides, he learned his lesson about love five years ago, and he’s more determined than ever to close off his heart and keep his eyes on the prize.

When Isabella is tasked with tagging along to cover the band’s first national tour, this is the big break both of them need. But her internship stresses staying professional at all times, and their growing feelings for each other could jeopardize everything. So, they need to keep their distance.

Or maybe they’ll find their own rhythm.

A Duet of Darkness and Dreams is a steamy, off-limits friends to lovers romance. It’s a story about letting go of the past, chasing your dreams, and learning to trust your heart. This rockin’ 80s rockstar romance features two dreamers, who despite thinking they have to do everything on their own, just might be the light in each other’s darkness.

Feb 27: Right on Cue by Falon Ballard

From the beloved author of Just My Type and Lease on Love comes a new romantic comedy in which a former actress-turned-screenwriter finds herself back in the spotlight, only for her romantic lead to be the one man she can’t stand.

Emmy Harper is no stranger to Hollywood, having penned some of the most popular movies of the past few years. But her latest project has hit a standstill—unable to find the perfect leading lady, Emmy’s been recruited to take on the role herself, dusting off acting skills she hasn’t used in over a decade.

Things take a turn for the worse when a she’s left with the one costar she can’t trust: Grayson West. A blockbuster action hero known for his megawatt smile and impossible abs, Grayson is anyone’s dream of a romantic lead. Too bad Emmy still blames him for her disastrous first movie and the early end to her acting career.

The friction between the two risks tanking the movie, and no one knows if it’s lingering awkwardness from their youth or unresolved sexual tension. But if they want to save the production—and their own careers—they need to get their acts together quickly, both on and off camera.

Sutton Davis — the big leagues’ first female hitting coach — has a bright baseball future ahead of her, but knows that blazing a trail is not without its challenges, and neither is coaching young, impatient hot shots on baseball’s biggest stage.

When fate, or baseball, brings Max and Sutton together, will they fight their attraction to one another, or let the game work its magic?

Xavier Wright did not expect to run into his high school girlfriend Violet—the girl he once thought he’d marry—on a birthday trip to Vegas. Feb 29: Rival Hearts by Maggie Rawdon

Pro football might see me as their favorite underdog, but Madison Westfield would rather see me six feet under.
My ex-best friend’s little sister has every reason to hate me. I took her boyfriend’s spot on this team, her brother might lose his too, and our short-lived engagement years ago is part of the reason our families are locked in a grudge match that has the whole league on edge.
Ruining me would fix most of her problems, but she’s stuck trying to work a PR miracle with my career instead.
Making my way through her build-a-better-image checklist is the kind of torture I’ll gladly sign up for, especially if I get to help her prove everyone wrong.
But it means we’re spending a lot of time alone together, and when it comes to Madison, I’ll take any chance she gives me. Even if it means there’s hell to pay—on and off the field.

In addition to six-pack abs, he’s got one big secret and way too many opinions.

Equally important, will she make it through her best friend’s surprise proposal without murdering—or falling for—the annoyingly handsome filmmaker?
