Teaser Thursday

I actually thought it would be an even quieter release week for the holiday weekend, but there’s a solid mix of indie releases on the way. There’s something for every mood, and new books by authors I’ve been meaning to try, as well as some old favorites. Take a peek at some of the books releasing in the next week below!

June 28: Word to the Wise by Eva Simmons

This is no fairytale…

As the daughter of a biker, I’ve been toe-to-toe with brutal men. I grew up surrounded by violence, so I thought I could survive anything.

Until I learned what it really means to be at the mercy of a monster. One I loved. One I trusted.

Now that I’ve escaped, I refuse to go back.

But when I show up on my brother’s doorstep looking for help, I find myself face to face with Mason Zane.

My protector. My safety. My brother’s apprentice.

A man who reveals my truths and cracks me open. A man who sees the girl I forgot existed.

But Mason has secrets of his own. Demons like the ones I’ve been running from. A tangled web that ties us together in ways we never expect.

Mason might feel like salvation, but this is no fairytale. And I won’t trade one evil for another again.

WORD TO THE WISE is an emotionally twisted, dark romance with a morally grey hero, heavy subject matter, mature content, and explicit scenes. Content/TWs (which contain spoilers) can be found on author’s website. 18+ only

June 28: Audio Release of The Front Runner by Elsie Silver

Stefan Dalca is infuriatingly handsome. And annoyingly persistent. We’re supposed to hate each other. But apparently he didn’t get the memo, because he’s been asking me out for years.

And I always say no. Until today.

Today he has something that I desperately need. Today he’s a savior, and I’m his prize.

Our time together starts out as a simple transaction. Three dates. No touching. No telling anyone. And definitely no falling in love.

But with every intimate conversation, and each stolen glance, the tension between us builds.

The way he looks at me gives me butterflies. And when he finally touches me? We sizzle.

Stefan makes me feel seen in a way no other person has before. He cherishes my words as passionately as my body.

He makes me laugh. He makes me blush. He calls me kitten.

He’s not the villain he’s been made out to be.

And suddenly I find myself longing for him in a way the people closest to me wouldn’t approve of or understand.

Giving in to Stefan Dalca is playing with fire.

But with him I don’t even mind the heat.

July 1: Rebel Heart by Brighton Walsh

Coming home and finding out my ex is my new roommate is a nightmare…especially when I’ve been pretending to hate her for years.

Harper Davidson has been ingrained on my heart since we were kids, and now she’s tattooed on my skin. But she’ll never know about either. Not when she’s better off thinking we’re enemies.

Having her in my space every day and sharing a wall with her every night is a challenge I never saw coming. A challenge I’m not sure I’m up to.

Especially when our daytime games turn into nighttime dares, pushing each other to the breaking point until our neighbors know exactly who’s making her scream.

As lines blur and feelings deepen, we begin teetering on the edge of something more. And it’s becoming harder to pretend that this is nothing—that she is nothing.

Because this second chance is starting to feel like a last chance.

It’s always been her for me, but I’m broken beyond repair and don’t know how to be the man she needs. These demons in my closet are never silent, and I’ll do anything to keep them from dragging her down with me.

Even if that means letting her go again.

July 1: The Arrangement by Adriana Locke

“Meet me in the conference room.”

I was on the verge of losing everything when the gorgeous CEO of Brewer Air promoted me to his executive assistant.

It’s the chance of a lifetime.

Not only will I receive excellent pay and fantastic benefits—the flexibility to check on my ailing grandmother during lunch is an incredible perk—but I’ll also get to stare into the bright green eyes of Jason freaking Brewer.

My new boss is deliciously handsome and wildly charming. Did I mention his alpha tendencies make me feral?

The job is perfect.

And so is he.

But I didn’t expect the billionaire pilot to call me into the conference room to discuss something unrelated to airline protocol.

I also didn’t expect our workplace relationship to become an office romance.

An arrangement is made. And it changes everything.

Unless one of us breaks the rules …

From USA Today and Amazon Charts bestselling author Adriana Locke comes a new age-gap workplace romance featuring a former military hero and his strong heroine. Jason Brewer will have you swooning as he falls first in this “sweet and spicy” standalone romance.

July 2: The Love of My After Life by Kirsty Greenwood

A recently deceased woman meets “the one” in the afterlife waiting room, scoring a second chance at life (and love!) if she can find him on earth before ten days are up…

If she wasn’t dead already, Delphie would be dying of embarrassment. Not only did she just die by choking on a microwaveable burger, but now she’s standing in her ‘shine like a star’ nightie in front of the hottest man she’s ever seen. And he’s smiling at her.

As they start to chat, everything else becomes background noise. That is until someone comes running out of a door, yelling something about a huge mistake, and sends the dreamy stranger back down to earth. And here Delphie was thinking her luck might be different in the afterlife.

When Delphie is offered a deal in which she can return to earth and reconnect with the mysterious man, she jumps at the opportunity to find her possible soulmate and a fresh start. But in a city of millions, Delphie is going to have to listen to her heart, learn to ask for help, and perhaps even see the magic in the life she’s leaving behind…

July 2: The DM Diaries by Teagan Hunter

Falling in love with a guy like this is easy. Finally meeting him is a different story in a funny, flirty, and emotional romantic comedy about celebrity, secrets, and plus-sized dreams.

Olive O’Brien is a plus-size influencer with half a million followers and big dreams. And she’s feeling the pressure to stand out while staying true to herself. To cope, Olive finds solace in an unexpected place: the DMs of Jasper Rafferty, the world’s hottest movie star, where she feels safe to share her hopes, fears, and secrets because it’s not like he’ll read them. Until he does. Kind of.

Career-wise, Jasper’s younger brother, Jude, is in free fall. After an interview gone wrong, Jude now has the thankless job of managing his brother’s social media accounts to help reboot his own image. Olive’s messages are unexpected, and her wit and vulnerability catch his interest. How can “Jasper” not respond? And how long can Jude keep up the ruse?

As the DMs get flirtier and more personal, the bigger question is what’ll happen when Olive finds out she’s fallen for a fraud. It might not be what either of them expects.

July 2: Fire Away by Lainey Lawson

What kind of man in his right mind asks a girl out on a date just to make his ex jealous? Warren Farrow, that’s who.

I fell for that dimpled smirk, cowboy hat, and magnetic charm. Too bad he saw me as nothing more than a pawn in his scheme.

That alone should have stopped me from asking him to be my fake boyfriend a few weeks later. In my defense, I was out of options after a major screw-up that almost cost me my job. My lack of self-preservation skills didn’t do much to deter me from the idea either.

I may be a walking disaster. But everyone in Westridge knows Warren as the town golden boy who can do no wrong – making him the perfect candidate to repair my reputation and help me avoid getting fired.

The ruse seemed foolproof at first, but one practice kiss was all it took for my defenses to weaken and remember how brightly the spark between us burned.

He wanted me, flaws and all. And my urge to resist him began to disappear when I realized he was bringing out a side of me that felt more worthy and confident than I ever thought possible.

I knew that if I could find the strength to let love in, Warren might be the best thing to ever happen to me. What I didn’t expect was for someone else to rip it all away before we got our chance at the real thing.

Fire Away can be read as a standalone and is Book 2 in the interconnected series, The Bunkhouse. This book is a small town cowboy romance with fake dating, hurt/comfort, and romantic suspense.
