My favorite kind of audiobooks – those performed in duet, so that you can distinguish between the characters! Audiobooks have come a long way in the last several years, shifting from books that are simply read aloud to true audio performances. I remember trying to get into audiobooks a few years ago, and I just didn’t see the appeal. But these days, it’s a whole different story. Anyone who has listened to a duet or full cast audiobook knows that they’re a whole different ballgame than just spoken words. Duet-style can be difficult to find, but they are becoming more popular every year.
What is duet narration?
Let’s talk about the different narration styles available:
Single Narration: One narrator voices all of the characters in the book.
Dual Narration: There are two narrators, each voicing a chapter at a time. For example, if the heroine shows up in a chapter that the male narrator is voicing, he performs her character during those scenes – and visa versa when the female narrator is speaking.
Duet Narration: There are two narrators, each voicing one of the lead characters. So the same narrator will voice the heroine throughout the entire book, etc., and same with the hero. This is much more conversational and natural feeling.
Full Cast Narration: Similar to duet narration, but with even more narrators available to voice other characters.
Dual or single narration are the most common these days, but duet and full cast narration are highly sought after. They create a whole different listening experience.

I’m really sad that Sweet by Adriana Locke isnt a duet narration even though it says duet.
I had no idea the two last books of Danielle Lori were duet narrations – thank youuu so much

Sweet isn’t duet?! I own others in the series but not that one, that’s a surprise since it says it right on there! And, yes, another reader mentioned the two Danielle Lori books, which is exciting! The first book doesn’t seem to be duet, I could only get confirmation on books 2 and 3.

Thank you thank you thank you for this list!! I’m trying to get more into audio but seem to only really be able to do duets. The duals pull me out of the story.
Here’s some I’ve found in my quest:
The Mate Games series-both War and Pestilence by Meg Anne and K Loraine are full cast narration.
Also the Madison Kate by Tate James series is duet. (I’m going to guess Hades would be also but haven’t checked yet.)
Whiskey Lies and Loving Whiskey by Brittanee Nicole are duet.

Thanks for those! I’m going to be updating the list next month for Audiobook Month, so stay tuned for that. Duets seem to be more popular than ever, which is a great thing!
