My reading month was a mix of big wins followed by major book hangovers, which made it a frustrating and fulfilling month at the same time! After putting together my Top 20 of 2022 list at the end of the year, I decided to tackle some of the 2023 ARCs that I already had on my kindle, and I also received several new and VERY exciting ARCs. So I would go through this cycle of reading something REALLY good, then being frustrated for days afterwards when the books I picked up were not nearly the same quality. That lead to me DNFing at least a dozen books this month – some temporarily, some not-so-temporarily. I haven’t included those in this list because I know when I’m being moody and I’ll give them the benefit of a second attempt before fully calling it quits. You’d be surprised how many fantastic books I’ve set aside when not in the right mood, only to have a lot more success on another day.
Speaking of fantastic books, I read SEVERAL this month. I posted sneak peek reviews for some of my most anticipated books of the year, including the newest from Lucy Score, Ali Hazelwood, Lauren Asher, and Kate Clayborn. I also had several successful reading ventures with new-to-me authors, which is always exciting. Check out my Best of January post (found here) for more details on those. I fully expect Ali Hazelwood and Lucy Score’s books to make the Best of lists for their release months as well, but who knows what the future holds! I’d be ecstatic if there were so many great books that they got knocked off the list – it’d be tough to do though.
Heading into February, I’m expecting to read a pretty eclectic mix of romances. There are new books coming from some of my favorite one-click and up-and-coming authors, so those definitely have my attention. There are also plenty of indie releases from new-to-me or newish-to-me authors I’ve got my eye on, as well as several books that have been burning a hole in my kindle for months. So I’m going to take it one day at a time and see what happens!

I’ve been a longtime fan of funny lady Kayley Loring, and the Name in Lights series is the one that really cemented my love for her work! I rated all three books in this lighthearted rom com series as 5 stars, and I have a special love for Sleeper. They’re all light, sexy, easygoing and quirky, featuring single parents who are (or related to) former child stars. It’s such a fun series that I thought I’d re-share my reviews all together – these are easy to read as standalones, but better together. They’re also excellent on audio!

My new neighbor is a complete jerk. A tall, brooding, tattooed jerk. I tried to be nice, bake some cupcakes for him and his adorable daughter, and the only reaction I could come up with to his ice-cold reception was to shove those pink cupcakes right into his muscular chest.
In my defense, it was a rough week.
Being back in Seattle for the first time in years was hard enough, the fact that I was there for the dispersal of my father’s will made it even harder. I had no intention of staying, until I got a football stadium-sized surprise as my dad’s final gift to me.
No … really. He left me a football team.
