Whether it’s a brother’s best friend, a best friend’s little sister, a best friend’s brother, or some other similar scenario, “sibling’s best friend” romance books always make for great reads. It’s a versatile trope that encompasses a variety of situations, and the combination of history and tension makes each love story a little more interesting. If the couple has known each other for years, then there’s often a little bit of enemies to lovers or second chance at play. If they’re just getting to know each other, then there’s usually some serious chemistry that ratchets up the tension. Either way, the forbidden element makes these romances super compelling. The fear of crossing that line, the fear of getting found out… there’s always something keeping these couples apart. Throw in some forced proximity or a situation where the couple can no longer avoid the obvious, and it’s the catalyst to a fantastic read.
From rom com to emotional, sports romance to small town, roommates to fling to more, there’s a couple for everyone on this list – and plenty of tropes at play too. Those Three Little Words by Meghan Quinn
I knocked up my best friend’s sister.
Figured I would get straight to the point because how it happened is a mere snippet of the story I have to tell. The real meat and potatoes is what happened after.
Let’s start with how she decided to inform me and Pacey the news . . . together. Imagine that nightmare. I was going into what I thought was a hockey marketing meeting and then BAM! I’m going to be a dad and my best friend/teammate is attempting to imprint my face with his fist.
It wasn’t pretty.
